Artistry in Motion is a new Performing Arts Center located in the Downtown Smithfield District

It is the aim of Artistry in Motion to give children and adults the opportunity to further their knowledge, skill, technique, and creativity through dance or other performing arts.  It is our philosophy to help our students to first find the enjoyment in dance itself, learn and critique the appropriate technique,  and then to combine these elements into formulating each student's own individualistic dance style.  "A great dancer is not only great because of her technique; she is great because of her passion."

At our Performing Arts Center we are excited about promoting our new business in one of Smithfield's oldest buildings.  Our space combines historical value with up to date renovations including a sprung dance floor appropriate for our dancers' bodies.  We also feature ballet barres for our youngest to oldest students.  At our new Performing Arts Center, we host occasional live musical accompaniment for our dance classes.

It is our goal at A.I.M. to give our students a different dance experience without having to travel outside of the county.  We  aim to give our students as much exposure as possible to the wide realm of  dance and performing arts that exist.

Another goal of Artistry in Motion is to keep our parents involved with our childrens's dance classes.  We feel that it is important for our parents to stay connected with what we're doing in class.  With this in mind, we have a Media Gallery page on our website to update with  pictures from our students, and our studio is equipped with a two-way designed mirror so that parents will be able to observe their child's progress without disturbing the concentration of our students.  Parents are invited to observe class at any time!  Also, come check us out on Facebook for more up to date news on our studio!

At Artistry in Motion, we have programs for children ages 2-18, as well as classes for adults!  At this time we are hosting dance classes in all styles with intentions of expanding into other performing arts within the future.  Classes include: ballet, jazz, rhythm tap, hip hop, acrobatics, pointe, lyrical, modern, ballroom, shag, and more!   For our fabulous 2 and 3 year olds we also offer these baby ballerinas creative dance that builds on teaching our little ones the basics of ballet but also gives them freedom for imaginative creative movement.  This class is great for girls and boys!  For adults, we feature 6 week class sessions.  These classes rotate among ballroom, shag, and technique dance classes.  For those planning an upcoming wedding, we also choreograph and offer private lessons for couples in preparing for their wedding dance!

Since we are located in Downtown Smithfield, we have made accommodations for an assisted drop-off service for your convenience.  Upon registration, please inquire for more details.  We are very excited about our upcoming dance season at Artistry in Motion and look forward to sharing our passion for dance with you!
